I agree with White Stripes but if you put Tool or Radiohead, then Wilco would be one.

In fact, you might have to go with individual artists over bands and say Jack White, Jeff Tweedy,

While I have always liked his better music, I don't really see him that influential at all... by the time the 2000s rolled around he had largely abandoned the alt-country style and was more just a generic singer-songwriter.. That has been around forever and there still would be those other two artists without him..

I don't think you realize his influence on soooo many singer songwriters today though. even though he's a total creep.

You'll be hard pressed to remember them in 15 years.

You know some doofus motherfricker with a Johnny Unitas haircut said this same thing about The Rolling Stones in the 60’s

So congrats, motherfricker. You’re a doofus

I just don't know how you can't include somebody like Kanye

I'm not a huge fan, and it's not really a band, but he and some of the other newer hip hop producers have been uber influential even in the pop music world

Your list is pretty solid, though

no doubt he's influential but

for those downvoting:

what bands would you suggest?

I’ve noticed on this board any time a question is posed and multiple bands are listed as answers there will be a lot of downvotes because all it takes is one band in the list that someone doesn’t like and they downvote it.

I love pinegrove. One of my favorite bands.

But influential? To who exactly?

Ryan Adams ripped off Graham Parker.

Wait, no. That was my answer to who I was listening to. I don't think any of those can be influential yet.

I missed this the first time. No

I really think you are just making things up. That, or you don't really know what influential means.

I know everyone on this board hates them but Linkin Park not on this list with all those other bands is a complete joke.

What big bands are influnced by LP these days?

Arguably the most popular new hard rock act of this decade, Bring Me The Horizon, just to name one.

Some more, of mice and men, RED, Danger Kids, Skillet (true but not one to brag ablout) and I’m sure Hollywood Undead, though they’d never admit it because of how “street” they are. HU went out and got a Chester like lead singer after losing their rapper lead and has the music most closely resembled to old LP with the background beats, rapping, harmonizing choruses, and heavy guitars.

Linkin Park is arguably the most successful band formed around 2000 or later in the 21st century globally. I don’t know of another band that popped up around 2000 that managed to maintain the success they had commercially and as a touring act for as long as they did until Chester’s passing. Again, not having them on this list is a joke, no matter how much you may dislike them.

ask any modern alt country/americana/folk band right now if "heartbreaker" was influential to them and see what their answer is.
