Snakepit was packed full.

It was pretty relaxed though. There was plenty of room to move around if you wanted. Kid next to us got James handkerchief.

Yes, I would say you were up close. Nice.

Thanks.
Got a Rex Brown pick but no Metallica ones. They really kind of neglected our little corner all night.

Yeah I know I’m in a vast minority here but I just SO much prefer a traditional stage. I was on the floor and ‘92 in Jacksonville for their original snakepit tour. I wasn’t in the snakepit, but was to the right along the angle of the diamond shaped stage. Was on the floor again in 2004 with their stage in the middle of the floor. Both times there were parts of the show when the whole band was clear on the other side of the stage, so we could hear the music but we couldn’t even see any of them onstage. I think maybe Lars was in sight at all times in ‘92 but definitely not at all times in ‘04 as his kit was moving around the stage. For the one small stretch, where his kit was right in front of us and the other three happened to be right there at the same time, that’s when the crowd was by far it’s rowdiest where I was. It’s just weird to me to be on the floor of the show and hear the music but not be able to see any of the band. Kind of off-putting to me.
Furthermore, at the time my thoughts were that the people in the lower sections of seats down near the floor had the better experience as the stage was so close to them and they were seated in chairbacks with an up close view. Only problem, my ticket cost a lot more than theirs.
Damaged Justice in Biloxi in ‘89 was by far my favorite Metallica show I’ve ever seen. Traditional stage at one end of the arena.
Now after saying all that, I would love to experience the snakepit to see what it’s like but your comment above makes it seem like that “neglect” factor can still come into play.

I was thinking during the show that at times parts of the floor wouldn’t see the band at all. Pretty happy with my seats. Early, if you want to see what the show is like outside the pit you can always use my extra seat for a second. Maybe during one of the openers tomorrow. And no one has offered me any financial incentives to harm you, yet.

Yeah, it's true to an extent. You can see them easily. The elevation of the stage is perfect. You can tell they really thought it out. But they're definitely a ways off. Another little thing is the delay in the sound. When they kit is right next to you, it sounds like Lars is off beat because of the delay.

I might do that.

The two times I've seen Metallica I was on the floor close to the stage, actually up against the rail at times. In Lafayette they had two small stages and everyone except Lars ran back and forth between them. The other time I saw them was one giant stage in the middle of the floor. I didn't have any problems seeing and would pay a little extra for snakepit if I had the chance to get those tickets. They come here so rarely its worth it for me.

So, I might still get this trip paid for.

I didn't even bother to go to the casino today. Was tired AF after standing on that damn floor for 6 hours. Just ran around and took a nap.
