For example, people hate mumford and sons because the first cd sounds exactly the same as the second...
then people hate Kings of Leon because they changed their sound from the first two albums...

I don't listen to KOL but I have to assume that people are upset that they changed because they began to suck as they changed. If a band starts off well and then changes to appeal to a certain demographic in order to make more money, they often piss off the people who originally liked them.

I think most people on this board don't care for m&s because they don't like their music, not because they sounded the same on both albums.

I don't hate KOL because they changed their sound. I hate them because they changed their sound to one that absolutely sucks. They took everything interesting about their music and filed it off to become the blandest band in the world. They didn't change for artistic reasons, they changed in one of the most naked cash grabs in recent memory.

This is ridiculous, I didnt like M&S from the start... although I dont hate them.
KoL had one good record and then they just fricking blew...
Wilco, for example, has changed their sound a couple of times and I still hold them in high regard..

From the pics you posted of them throughout the years... I would have changed my look as well.

Kings of Leon went from ballsy southern rockers with an attitude to metrosexual douches playing to 15 year old girls.
Meanwhile Mumford and sons play the same god damn faux-folk "I'm gonna strum the absolute frick out of this guitar" song over and over and over for three fricking albums.
Long story short...... If they didn't suck I wouldn't hate them but alas they do so as do I
