Gotcha. I read "Searching for the Sound" a couple of months ago and couldn't remember exactly.
Absolutely. I've always thought of him as a member of the Dead.

Operator - classic Pigpen song

Terrapin station will be played at my funeral.
Box of rain is funeral material as well, hunter wrote it for phil while his dad was dying.
+1 on Terrapin Station.
I am pretty sure Phil wrote a large portion of Box of Rain while driving home from visiting his dying dad.
Box of Rain and Ripple are a staple of American Beauty. That album had so much raw emotion behind it, with Phil's father dying, Jerry's mother being tragically killed in a car accident, and months prior to these events were the death of Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin (who was pretty close with the band, especially Pigpen). The album will always be a top 5 album for me.

Sitting here in limbo, but I know it won't be long.
Sitting here in limbo, like a bird without a song.

has anyone on here been to this fest before? looks like it would be a good time.
I'm a sucker for anything psychedelic so this is pretty much ideal for me.

quote::cheers: Thanks for clearing this up. I like you as a poster and I respect/envy those that were there for the early years of all my favorite bands. I just hate the hipster mentality of "I saw them in their early years therefore I know more."
It's not meant to every younger fan out there. They are just as important as the fans who have been around forever.
Don't let Burt get to you. I'm pretty sure he's offended every singe person on this board at some point.
