Mötley Crüe shouldn’t be paired with Poison. Poison was much lighter, pop oriented and bubble gum. The Crüe was harder, heavier, and as a whole

Yeah Poison was really pop music.

The Cure, this one isn't remotely close.
Depeche Mode
Talking Heads
Peter Gabriel

Don't like any of the others.

One thing that's surprising me is how many people are taking Prince over Michael Jackson. Prince obviously a transcendent talent, but Jackson is one of the biggest music stars in the history or music.

Michael Jackson had to hire Eddie Van Halen, Steve Stevens, and Slash to play guitar on his albums. Prince could do it himself.

Close, but I saw a great show by Tears, so I might give them the edge by a nose.

I'm surprised at how many are taking The Cars over Talking Heads, but Talking Heads is one my all time favorite bands. I do like The Cars, but for me there's really no comparison.

If you listened to college or alternative radio in the 80s you couldn't escape these bands. If you didn't listen to college or alternative radio in the 80s you never heard one song from either of them.

Thriller and Off Wall are so good though.

We still have the original vinyl releases of both of those albums somewhere.
