I saw that same bill in Huntsville Alabama that year. Still shake my head to this day.
Great show but an odd pairing.

Triumph "Progression of Power". 3 piece band in the Rock section. I wasn't disappointed.

I bought this based on the name of the band. I had never heard of them or their music.

For me it was Rush and Permanent Waves. Had not heard them ever no reference other than I read where the album was in the Top 10 at the time.

Then I listened to Spirit of Radio and Freewill and I became a huge fan pretty much immediately.

You can keep Rage Against the Machine. I've never quite understood their popularity. De la Rocha can't sing and not only is Morello overrated, he uses his distortion and pedals to hide the fact that he is merely average.

I bought A Different Kind of Tension by the Buzzcocks because I thought their name was funny. Still one of my favorites

Fair Warning-Van Halen

Were you an immigrant? That was their 4th studio album, and the first three were huge hits. Hard to imagine not knowing anything about Van Halen by that point.

Best Of Grand Funk, ZZ Top -Tres Hombres, Dire Straits-Dire Straits, Bad Company- Burnin Sky. Pink Floyd-Dark Side of The Moon (just because of Money, I loved the gritty funkiness of that 1 song, really the same thing for Bad Company Burnin Sky.).
