Be sure to check out Southpaw Guitars in Houston. Incredible resource for used and vintage lefties.

I bought a couple Taylors from those guys. They carry more mainstream stuff--Taylor, Fender, Gibson, Martin, etc. Jerry's meanwhile offers a wider selection--Collings, Anderson, Nik Huber, Malinowski, Larrivee, etc.--along with the bigger brands.
I've bought from, and recommend both--that is, if you're a lefty.

Can't believe they limit themselves like that for such a specific customer?
Maybe at least give us righties a shitty little corner like the lefties have always been given.

Inexpensive electric guitars are better and more numerous than they have ever been.

I only had it for a year, but I had a Montana acoustic around 95-96. I have had very few people know what I am talking about when I mention it.

quote:I think Fender acquired Guild right around '93- early '94. The production remained in Westerly for a while thereafter. Some of the later 90s Guilds were made in Corona.
The show was shot in 93-94? When did Guild switch factories? Or do they make guitars in 3 factories including China?

Under the same craftsmanship and town, La Patrie classical guitars are fantastic.

Of course the only reason I KNOW of them was Alice in Chains Unplugged.
In the GnR video for Patience, all of the guitars were Guilds. Slash was a Guild endorser during that time, for acoustics.

I believe Guild has continued some production in Corona again.
Funny thing is a couple years ago Guild unveiled The Westerly Collection. Made in China. frick off, Guild.

Guild is now owned by Cordoba. They very recently started producing acoustics in a new factory in Oxnard, CA. The Newark St electrics and some of the acoustic lines are still made in Korea and maybe China.

I was looking at the Newarks last year, because I've always wanted a Starfire. They are made in Korea, and you can get them fairly cheap. I just don't know if the quality is good. Probably better off saving up, and just buying a vintage Westerly. You can get an American made classic for just a few hundred more bucks.

The reports on the Newark St's is that they're very well built with great fit and finish. But yea, why spent almost $1K on a NS when you could get a 90s Westerly around the same price?

Eastman makes some very quality guitars. I own both a jazz box and a mandolin from them. All solid-carved, limited power tool use. Made in a shop in China, but don't let that fool you. They're very nice guitars.

Never played one...but I've always wanted to try a Rainsong Carbon Fiber Acoustic
As for good lesser known guitars...I've heard some good things from Stonebridge.

I played one years ago and it was too trebley for my taste.
