I still listen to it from time to time. What a great collaboration. Of course, Clapton and Allman are killer, together. But then Bobby Whitlock is the soul man. He co-wrote and performed some of the best tracks.

The album is an enduring classic.

Great album and their cover of Little Wing is underappreciated.

I heard this version before I even knew who Jimi Hendrix was. As a kid my older brother, who played guitar in many bands, used to play this album a lot.

"Have You Ever Loved a Woman" was possibly the first blues song I ever heard.

"Bell Bottom Blues" is still one of my favorite songs ever.

Not a moody alcoholic heroin addict. AND a Beatle. He probably had an easier time picking up tail than Clapton.

Keep on Growing, Anyday and I Looked Away all feel criminally underrated. Killer record.

I was blown away when I discovered this album, which embarrassingly wasnt too long ago. I'm in love with those super high pitched notes on Nobody knows you

My favorite album of all time, and was practically guitar bible for me when I picked the instrument up many years ago.

It was such a whirlwind of circumstance for this album to happen & upon listening you can hear it.
Clapton being tormented by unrequited love for George Harrison’s wife, the happenstance situation of Duane Allman and his band being in Miami at the time of recording and agreeing to join the album only 3 tracks in.

Agreed with OP, Bobby Whitlock was a catalyst of the greatness in this album, just unbelievable soul in his vocals.

In addition to being an amazing player, Clapton usually had great taste. He covered a Bob Marley song in 1974, way ahead of the curve.
