Grammy's have always been of questionable value. I tend to agree with George C. Scott's position on these types of award shows. It's all just marketing for the music/movie industries. I consider the whole thing to be pretty silly and generally worthless. Worse, it may detract from the real value of the art.
It really says a lot about Kanye's character that he takes something so silly so seriously and without a shred of dignity.

My new record hits tomorrow. If that tPOS comes anywhere near the stage next year while I'm accepting my award he will meet 18 pounds of black Les Paul Custum right upside his jaw. Why is he even famous?

This was my thought as well. Granted he walked away so that probably would have avoided any confrontation, but if he pulled the same shite he did to Taylor Swift I would have introduced my fist to his face mid-sentence

Kanye is definitely talented but this was obviously uncalled for. It's not like Beck is some chump.
FWIW, I enjoyed Beyonce's album a lot more than Beck's. I definitely think she deserved to win especially if we consider the unannounced delivery, record setting downloads in itunes, and the music videos for each song. And it's a really good album.
With that being said, Beck has released some fantastic albums (Sea Change probably being my favorite). I just don't think his recent effort was that great (Grammy worthy).

I do agree that better, more serious metal albums were certainly made, but Tenacious D are actually fairly talented. Like him or not, Jack Black has serious pipes. I will always love the first album.
