You better refine your search to A Pirate Looks at Forty.

That is a good one. Just for shits and gigs let's hear favorite JB songs.

I like Come Monday, A Pirate Looks at Forty, and Pencil Thin Mustache

Trying to reason with a hurricane, island, southern cross (remake I think), son of a sailor.

Yes, Steven Stills of CSN&Y wrote and originally recorded it. Jimmy has never recorded a studio version but there are multiple live versions, and one is on the Buffet Live: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays album.

Hard to come up with one favorite JB song for me.
Of the ones he has written:
Pirate Looks at Forty, Son of A Son of A Sailor, Tonight I Just Need My Guitar, In the Shelter and Death of an Unpopular Poet.

Of his covers:
Stars on the Water (Rodney Crowell), Pacing the Cage (Bruce Cockburn), Great Heart (Johnny Clegg), Southern Cross (Stills), and Biloxi (Jesse Winchester).

God's Own Drunk, Pirate40, Livingston's gone to Texas, Havana Daydreaming, Biloxi*, Mexico*, High Cumberland Jubilee...

Really all the country Buffett is good. He's got some cheese in his catalog, but he has some good ones to balance, and genuinely seems to enjoy himself on stage. And his name is the most profitable name in entertainment industry. Life is good for Jimmy.

Cuban Crime of Passion, Tin Cup Chalice, Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season, Woman Goin' Crazy on Caroline Street

Lots of good stuff on those albums from the 70's.

Look for the Pirate Looks at 40 version with JB and Zac Brown singing it together. My favorite version of my favorite Buffet song

Jack Johnson does a pretty good cover of "Pirate Looks at 40"

My favs are like most others:

Pirate Looks at 40
Son of a Sailor
Come Monday
He Went to Paris
Tin Cup Chalice
Nautical Wheelers

Covers:
Southern Cross
Scarlet Bagonias

Little Miss Magic really reminds me of my little girl. Love that song!

I pretty much like all the hits, but one that gets overlooked that is great is,

Death of an Unpopular Poet

I cannot imagine any Buffet fan not liking this song.

Much of the focus of favorite songs are from his early years, which is warranted.

But might I suggest listening (or re-listening) to 3 albums from '94, '95 and '96:

Fruitcakes .. Everybody's got a cousin in Miami, Fruitcakes

Barometer Soup ... Bank of Bad Habits, Lage Nome Ai, Mexico (James Taylor cover).

Banana Wind .. School Boy Heart, Holiday, Bob Roberts Society Band, Treetop Flyer (Stephen Stills cover)
