you, ummm, did listen to this new track?

hes also made comments publicly that he is writing about figuring out what it means to be a white guy that is wanting to do better by the people not getting the best. wanting to create a better world for that baby girl hes raising too.

id be shocked if the themes of wanting more out of the world arent woven throughout the entirety of the album

First song off the new album released. Does a SJW(arriory) lyric or two, which is annoying but the song is really good and the music is great so I'm gonna let it slide.

Lyrics are hokey with a little too much sjw/white guilt. Music is good tho.

Some of my favorite songs of his are pre-Southeastern so this feels like a throwback to that.

I agree. There are some criminally under-rated songs on Sirens of the Ditch especially.

Getting nervous about the album after two consecutive masterpieces.

And Jason has been very forthcoming about the fact that he is a Democrat.

I avoided the DBTs new album because of this, and me being a conservative. However, I received "American Band" for Christmas. I dreaded the first listen but is is really good. I know where they are coming from, with
It being political and all, and I just sit back and enjoy the music. It's a good album

I'm sure Jason's will be also.

Oh I'm gonna give it a fair shake. But too many times artists fall flat when they become socially or politically aware in their songwriting. Pussy, booze, drugs, and depression make much better songs.

I just listened to the high road and it is exactly that. He's trying too hard and compared to his last two albums it sucks. Thank god for John Moreland.

How is Isbell pronounced? I heard Mojo Nixon talking about him last night, and he was saying basically, Is-BULL but with almost no U. Like, Is-Bll really. I always thought it was IS-bell.

I don't really care about musicians singing about politics that I don't agree with. But if Isbell is going to rag on white men simply because of their biology, then the music better be incredible. That was far from it.

This.

I'll stick to Cody Jinks for the time being.

I don't understand why they just can't leave the politics out of their music... It was obvious he was a democrat, and I'm fine with that, but I'll never listen to an album preaching about it.

All the Trump R's should stay in their echo chamber where ideas that are different than theirs won't trigger the little snowflakes. More room in the front for me at The Rock Show.
