music festivals have evolved over the years and Phish played a huge part in that.... whats so hard to understand?

This is not the same as 'inventing the modern music festival'

They were influential, damn right. I'm not going to argue against that.

You keep drifting away from the "modern" part. I mean frick if we are talking about the origin of a festival we would be going back to the Middle Ages

Well Phish's mgmt that produced The Great Went, Clifford Ball, Lemonwheel, Big Cypress, etc.. invented the modern music festival.

There weren't many in the states, but Europe has been doing it for decades upon decades.

I stand by my original saying that Bonnaroo '02 sparked the huge wave most of the big festivals today. Roo is what started pulling in the big crowds to see multiple bands and it evolved from there by adding artists from different genres. No they didn't invent it. But it's what made them so popular these days

but if you want to limit it to hippy festivals in the woods so people can sleep in filth... i'll give it to Phish... Forefathers of the modern day hippy pig slop festival..

You're really not answering the question I've been asking for like 5 damn pages.

But that's just fine.

Phish is my favorite band. I say that so you will hopefully read what I say for its content value and not think I am try to take away from Phish's legacy.

Glastonbury is the one example I am using but Europe has had many festivals with the same blueprint for years. Glastonbury is a multi day, multi stage, pay for ticket, almost entirely camping festival which has been going on since 1970. It went from 70,000 attendance to 100,000 attendance throughout the course of the 90's. Other European festivals similar success. As a result America sees opportunity and starts putting on its own. Did Phish contribute, sure. But it is not like tons of bands are putting on solo fests right now.

The same evolution of rock occurred, and what is the fastest growing music segment in America today, electronic. Where did the electronic boom first occur?

Coming from you and the limited knowledge of music you've espoused on this board, that's laughable...

I dont mind saying Phish is a great at what they do... but the amount of unjustified praise, credit and accolades their fans dump on this niche band is a travesty...

He should probably avoid posting on this board. The headiness is too much to handle. TFTC is your typical dave matthews fanboy.
