I know it sounds crazy but hear me out.

It is the only radio station in the BR area that you can hear any form of non-classic rock on a consistent basic. They also play nothing but blues/jazz/soul on Sundays. Also, there are basically no commercials.

KLSU has also been a pretty great aid in helping me find new bands to listen to. I always enjoy hearing something new and good than the same song for the millionth time (98.1).

Now is ever song good to listen to? No, they still do play bad songs and receive crap requests, but it seems to me that the good/bad song % has shifted from a perceived 50/50 a couple of years ago to closer to 80/20 now.

Maybe my taste in music has been shifted or maybe it's just the current wave of KLSU dj's, but now KLSU is the 1 on my presets.

That and 90.3 are the only interesting radio stations around here.

KLSU is a great radio station. I love that they have scheduled programs and not all the same stuff all the time.

it's not crazy at all ... NPR, KLSU, ESPN, BRH and the 96.3 community deal are the only listenable stations in that town

I rarely listen to the radio, but if I do it is either KLSU or sports stuff.

No love for 96.9? I think they are better overall than KLSU when they are playing music.

Who is going to buy advertising time on an alt rock station in Baton Rouge? There are not enough listeners to make it worth while for advertisers.

The best show on KLSU was the sports show me and Carter Bryant did on Sunday nights from 09-11

The BR radio situation is terrible. My most listened to station is 1150am. I haven't listen to music on the radio in years.

I like KLSU and WHYR, but neither are consistenty good. For every good song on KLSU, there's two which sound awful or are of a genre I don't care much for. At WHYR, they spend half their day (and most of the time I spend driving) rebroadcasting NPR. When WHYR is playing music, I like them better, but much of the day they are not.

If WHYR cut vack on the nationally syndicated communist propoganda and had more music programming, they would be an even better station.

Still my two favorite stations by default. BR radio is so unbelievably cringe-inducing terrible

The rock radio situation is Baton Rouge is just terrible. I really don't understand how a capital city cannot have a rock station. KLSU is hit or miss for me. I guess it depends what time and day I'm driving through.

I used to love me some KLSU when I lived in BR.

EDIT: Glad to see The Rusty Cage is still a thing.

If I had the capitol, I'd probably look into starting one. Since I don't, I may look into DJ'ing a show on 96.9 once a week instead.

It once was, but of course the hipster doofus types try too hard.

Back in the 90's when I was at LSU and actually enjoyed hip hop, they had an AWESOME Monday night show.

KLSU is one of the few positives of Baton Rouge.
