Live actually released in December 2000 - obviously not new material, that album features live versions of AIC's 90s catalogue. Regardless of release date, I don't think that (or any AIC album) can truly be considered from the Aughts, unless you count the new stuff with Jerry and/or the new singer on vocals - and as much as I like Jerry and AIC, I just don't consider that in the same way as Dirt, Facelift, Jar of Flies, etc.

Liked the Chocolate Starfish too.

Someday '00s rock will be 'classic rock' and it will be interesting to see how history treats it.

Didn't come to diss. Just wondering what the Millennial version of The Beatles, Eagles, Van Halen, will be in 20 years when you own the music.

I think a lot of 2000's rock will be thought of much like 80's hair metal. Yes there were great bands and songs to come out of the 80's but also a lot of crap. I graduated High School in 99 and I bought the Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Puddle of Mud type albums but didn't listen to them but a couple of years after they came out.

No it hasn't. Now is the best time for music probably in history. it has never been easier for artists to get their stuff out there.

What is true though is that it's that good music is much harder to find than it used to be.

I bet if i thought about it i could come up with at least 50 albums from the 2000's objectively better than fricking Linkin Park

just off the top of my head

Interpool- Turn off the bright lights
Radiohead- Kid A
LCD Soundsystem- Sounds of Silver
NIN- Fragile
White Stripes- White Blood Cells
White Stripes- Elephant
Strokes- This is It
Arcade Fire- Funeral
Wilco- YHF
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Fever to Tell
yeah Yeah Yeahs- It's Blitz
Deerhunter- Cryptograms
QOTSA- Songs for the Deaf
Sleater-Kinney- The Woods
PJ Harvey- Stories from the City
Sonic Youth- Rather Ripped
Sonic Youth- Murray Street
Franz Ferdinand
Beck - Sea
every album Flaming Lips put out in the 2000's

I could come up with a list 3 times as long if i wanted to. easily.

So you're saying your personal opinion holds more weight than the millions of people who bought albums and concert tickets from those bands?

millions of people bought NSync albums and tickets too, way way way more than any of those bands, but that doesn't make them worth a shite now does it?

Nsync broke up but Timberlake is still extremely popular with women. Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block both still headline arenas.

Loverboy and REO Speedwagon still get tons of play on classic rock radio. You think anyone actually likes them? The fact is, popular bands like Linkin Park will be remembered much better than some obscure band that only a few hipsters listen to.

those obscure bands tend to be much more influential on future musicians though

Not greatest of the 00s, but it's up there. 30+ million copies sold....

It has literally kept that band at the top of the mainstream rock festival lineups with slight help from Meteora, which was not an amazing record, but good enough to follow the debut.

Also saw HT played in order front to back at Download Fest a few years back in England. One of those rare occasions you just soak it in and watch instead of singing along with the crowd to every word.

The only 2 bands in tier 1 numetal are Rage and Deftones. If you consider either to be numetal that is. If not then tier 1 remains empty.

Greatest rock album of all time of the 90's? And Linkin Park? I'll admit that I liked it when it came out, but I was also 10 years old.

Obviously my opinion, but Songs for the Deaf (QOTSA), Elephant (White Stripes) and Thickfreakness (Black Keys) are probably my favorite albums of the 00's

Just figured I'd add to the argument here. At one point in time Creed was the biggest band in the world.

Dark times indeed

Music was really bad from about 1998-2003 or so

Creed was never the biggest band in the world, not even close.

It's an interesting thought. I always thought that Rage was better than numetal, at least content wise, but they kind of have that aesthetic. Not sure about the Deftones.
