Is everyone still mad at Fender?

Or was that just the outrage of the week?

Mad about what?
Cease and desist letters sent out to all the other guitar companies.
Every music youtuber roasted Fender, swearing off any of the products in the future, and many people here as well. Are you playing coy or you really don't know?

I guess I knew, but figure Fender should have enforced all of this (including the body shapes) years ago.

I really didn't know but but it sounds like the C&D letter doesn't have much teeth. I've got a Burns Cobra which is a strat body copy and I've always wondered how they got away with that.

They don't have any copyright claims to any US made strat copies because US case law says they failed to enforce it for decades. But overseas, they are enforcing the shite out of it now.

Yup. I'll buy any brand but Fender going forward and I say that as someone who has 7 Fender guitars, including multiple custom shops. There are just too many other companies making phenomenal guitars now for the price of a custom shop guitar.

Yes, down with Freddy Fender!

Yes Fender went Full Tard, and have been living off Leo’s vintage designs, Even after CBS moved away from them. The new brain trust seem to think that adding more tier levels of instruments is the answer, but it’s not, They also think that charging $5000 for Custom Shop Vintage style guitars is a winning strategy, When you can buy many small shop Strat copies with better QC for a fraction of that price. Hence the C&D letters.

They don’t have any legal way to enforce it, Patent expired and no copywright exist for a Strat Body.

None of that stuff affects me a bit, it's just a feud between rich corporations and people that I don't know, about a guitar that I would never buy.

It’s a temper tantrum by a rich company with deep pockets going after a bunch of small businesses.

More like a yes-man collective legal team being steered by a young and very ignorant CEO, who has yet to be enlightened that the best way to revitalize Fender/FMIC brands and eliminate competition ... is to simply make better guitars, across all price points.
"Bud" needs to quit talking to lawyers and instead talk to industry historians about how previous QC fumbles during the CBS years opened the door to "build a better mousetrap" competition in the first place; and how history is repeating itself, but exponentially worse in that 1970s guitarists, retailers, repair/tech guys, artists, etc., didn't have the internet to spread bad feedback and horrid PR like wildfire.
Bud needs to filter the legal retainer money to the assembly lines and QC payroll. And he needs to be lining up a Plan B for his livelihood because I expect him to be fired soon.

Don't know that I believe this.
And as far as the Fender stuff, we've moved on. We're mad at D'addario now.

Yea - he seems way out of his depth. I am not sure who convinced him that his very first major move as CEO should be to try to bully competition through legal means.

I hope all the mad at Fender people will donate their vintage Strat to me so I can destroy those evil guitars! Anybody want to give up that 68 Stratocaster in the name of justice.

Oh Bud likes to keep the fires stoked. Just a week or so ago he made a few comments about AI that relit some hatred.

What did those poor bastards do to piss off Rick Beato?

More claims of AI being used in an ad. TBH, the music was, let's say, not my cup of tea however it was created. Very odd choice for an ad for strings.

I could buy a new Player II Stratocaster for $100 more than a MIM 2017 FRS Black Stratocaster with maple neck I'm getting Wednesday. I'm not buying new Fenders. Used, it just doesn't matter
