Doves, Elbow, Badly Drawn Boy, Editors, James, The Coral, Travis, Unicorns/Islands, The Thrills....just a short list of many. Who you got?

Some still making music. I think the genre was probably to blame as it eroded but alot of great stuff came out that i gladly still listen to today

In that vein, Idlewild for sure. 100 Broken Windows was a phenomenal album that had radio hits all over it.

Self was probably ahead of his time a bit.

Hum. How they never blew up and made more than 3 major LP's, I will never know.

Also the Obsessed. Some of the best riffs I have ever heard.

Indie band is a term that I am using loosely for both.

Great call! Loved them. Gotta also add Tapes N Tapes. They were the darlings of that era

I don’t get why The New Pornographers songs aren’t splattered all over the radio.

Great album. Hardly ever even hear it mentioned anymore.

If Coldplay didn't go totally gay after their first two discs, they might have been as good a band as Doves..doubtful but maybe?

BDB, Travis, Elbow, Josh Rouse, Joseph Arthur,etc..are still on my playlists, almost 20 years later.

Great tunes never die..just multiply.

Josh Rouse,

Good call.. He is just a solid songwriter... I followed him really close for his first 5/6 records and then kind of dropped off after he moved to Spain.. I just looked him up the other day (trying to buy some early stuff on vinyl) and he's still releasing stuff regularly..

You and I have similar tastes. Completely agree on those first two Coldplay albums. Love Josh Rouse. Remember a show at the Parish w Leona Naess. Incredible. Joseph Arthur was prob top 3 artist for me in that time. “The sun and the moon.” “I would rather hide” man those were jams.

The first 2 Editors albums (an end has a start and the back room) were great. In this Light and on this Eve was ok, and then after that they just went downhill.

The singer has another band when Andy Burrows (we are scientist) called Smith and Burrows, which has some pretty good stuff.

Caught them at Hogs for the Cause about 5 years ago. Was very green to them. Was blown away.

One of my favorite concerts ever. Craig Finn is a hell of a frontman and lyricist.
