And I fricking love Run the Jewels.
I feel like I should be in Malibu’s Most Wanted. What’s your guilty music pleasure that you’ve got to hide from your family? At least until RTJ comes out with a Kidz Bop version.

Don't get too carried away, B-Rad, it's not like Run the Jewels is some hip, young underground shite. It's El-P and Killer Mike, both older than you and well established.

Actually I think this is their target audience. I am a Mini Van family of 4 and love RTJ. I crank it up. Have them on my workout mix, great stuff.

I'm close to 50 and I feel like 75% of the music I listen to is off brand for middle aged suburban white dads. Lots of Modest Mouse, War On Drugs, Phish, Sigur Ros, Kurt Vile, Thee Oh Sees, Japandroids, etc.

I don't hide any of it from anyone though. I let my freak flag fry. My wife gets embarrassed if I listen to Phish around friends and family though. "Turn that college hippie music off, please!"

Upvote. They are great. El-Ps production is otherworldly and he's got a unique sense of life around him in his writing. Killer Mike is just beastly. Always has been.

And I'm 41. Been an El-P fan since Company Flow

I don't think they're a guilty pleasure. If you grew up listening to hip hop in the 90s and 00s, they're a throwback to that era. I find a lot of the modern hip-hop just terrible. Guys mumble, no personality, just rapping about dumb material bullshite. RTJ and Kendrick Lamar are about the only modern rappers I really dig.

I guess I am not the average 63 year old with 9 grandkids- I still go to live shows all the time. I love a lot of indie bands today, also metal along with prog, psychedelic, etc. I keep an open mind to most music but kind of draw the line on modern country and hip hop. No two people are going to always agree on every band, in fact, willing to bet most of us have a soft spot for some hated band...

I go to a lot of local shows with a 64 year old guy and his 67 year old wife. He's an attorney(mostly retired) and she's a loan officer at a bank. It's funny seeing her at work in her conservative bank employee clothes, then getting down at a Built to Spill show buying rounds of shots from the bar.

I've stated on here for years, Kendrick & Killer Mike/RTJ are my two favs of the genre, and love Outkast too, and I'm in my 50s. Killer Mike though sharp with the lyrics/rhymes, I like more for the slick El-P wizardry..

Hell, LSU Hoops should be introduced during pre-game to Willie Burke Sherwood(Instrumental)..way better than Eye In The Sky, etc.. Killer Mike(El-P) - Wille Burke Sherwood (instrumental)

And love me some Built to Spill, like most geriatric Alt Rockers do. Modest Mouse, Japandroids, Vile, TWoD, etc..

My favorite part of the film This is 40, is that Rudd's character has a picture of Paul Westerberg on the wall. That, and him torturing the wife and kids with Pixies' 'Debaser'
