I grew up in the 90s/00s, and The Beach Boys are pretty fricking great.

If this doesn't do it for you, nothing will.
Do it again
Dennis Wilson absolutely wasted pounding the drums while Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Carl Wilson take turns singing this one. Sloop John B

The band that wrote “Pet Sounds” which inspired the making of The Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” album suck eggs?
Oh Ok.
“The author Ian MacDonald writes that when reviewing their rivals' recent work in late 1966, the Beatles identified the most significant LP as the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, which Brian Wilson, the band's leader, had created in response to the Beatles' Rubber Soul. McCartney was highly impressed with the "harmonic structures" and choice of instruments used on Pet Sounds, and said that these elements encouraged him to think the Beatles could "get further out" than the Beach Boys had. He identified Pet Sounds as his main musical inspiration for Sgt. Pepper,”

Pet Sounds is genius. The surfy stuff before that was a bit cheesy, but still good. I think you have to consider the historical context of Pet Sounds. It was pretty radical and sophisticated in regards to production quality and technique. A whole lot of crazy new stuff happening in there. Very precise arrangements, orchestral arrangements in pop music. Theremin? Revolutionary album. Brian Wilson was at the height of compositional genius just before his brain melted. One of the most influential albums ever. It’s easy to think it’s cheesy, but once you really consider it in context, it’s art.

I like that song from the cocktail film

No offense, but if you can't grasp what is going on in the track below, then maybe it's just beyond you. I don't know a professional musician who can't appreciate the arrangement, performances, vocal harmonies, key changes and nuances of this, and I know a ton of professional musicians. I also know a lot of non-musicians who get it as well. That doesn't mean you have to enjoy it, but to think they "suck eggs" indicates a lack of understanding about what is really going on.
And if you put it in historical context of what else was happening at the time, Brian was just operating on a different level than any of his peers.
Wouldn't It Be Nice
And that was the A side. The B side of that single... God Only Knows. A song about which has been said:
"The greatest song ever written" - Paul McCartney
"Fact and proof of angels." - Bono
"My first thought was, oh dear, I'm wasting my time, how can I ever compete with that? We've [the Bee Gees] been competing with that ever since." - Barry Gibb
"[It] is simple and elegant and was stunning when it first appeared; it still sounds perfect" - Pete Townsend
And Jimmy Webb has said it is a personal favorite.
God Only Knows
Maybe... just maybe, those folks know something.

The Beach Boys are only the greatest American band of all time. In a thousand years Brian Wilson’s songs will still be analyzed and enjoyed.

That was a lot of fun. I know very little about these guys and I can see just having a blast for a couple hours.

They are the greatest American band, and nobody is even close.

WOW
You really should have stopped with your 1st post. That one could be defended to some point, considering age, taste, environment, maybe a priest touched you to good vibrations. I'm sure there's a few others.
