I just don’t remember it getting that type of acclaim until this century. You would hear it mentioned as influential, but that’s about it. This is, admittedly, my personal experience.
I remember it was out of print forever and it was a big deal when it was finally released on CD in 1990.. at least in the music community.. I guess I considered it somewhat of a cult classic back then... similar to the Big Star records...

Same exact content that you hear in pop today: "I'm the shite, I make lots of money, I have badass cars and frick a lot of women".
I mean, the title of the song is literally "I Get Around" lmao.
They're different from the greaser thugs: "The bad guys know us and they leave us alone"

They are the greatest American band, and nobody is even close.

Even The Byrds would give the title to The Beach Boys

Yeah, but you really didnt hear the songs from that record on the radio... maybe Wouldn't it be Nice... As I kid in the 70's I barely knew any of it and I was very familiar with the early Beach Boys singles...
It wasn't until I really got into music that I really came aware of it and when it was released on CD, was really the first time I owned it...
I know in my lifetime, Ive witnessed it's legend grow...

Lets do this...I'll give you "pop band" and I take "rock band"
However, do you know of any high class "pop tribute band" that could headline and fill up Red Rocks last month by recreating and playing a 4 hour setlist of another band from about 50 years ago.
Dark Star Orchestra at Red Rocks July 2021

Mike LOve is such a dick
Evidently so. I once read a story that he got so much into TM that he would roll a rug out onto a specific spot on their plane to meditate mid-flight. It annoyed the rest of the group so much that at one point they pissed in that spot. He could smell it and moved to another spot.
Also, Dennis had an affair with Love's wife and married Love's illegitimate daughter with whom he had a son.

I think that is a good observation and a fair point.

It is quite literally "frick Bitches, Get Money".
You should look up and understand the meaning of the word “literally” before using it in your posts. Not an appropriate use of the word here.

I've always heard Mike Love was an arse but I never looked into it. Any stories?

He's arrogant and a Conservative. That's enough for a lot of people that think of themselves as "tolerant".
