With a caveat…
New CoJo is overrated
Old CoJo is still great.

Dirt Cheap is a great song

One good song doesn’t mean he isn’t still overrated.

I was introduced to CoJo in 2013. He was my favorite artist for a long time until Human came out. The sound just wasn’t the same to me. I still liked it, but it was different. I disliked most of the songs on Leather though.
Peak CoJo: Six Strings, One Dream, A different Day, and A Cowboy Like Me
Still really good: Gotta be Me, Aint nothin to it
Step down: Human

WTF is a CoJo?

If you don’t like the new sound
Blame Texas
Blame Texas

Hot take: using nicknames for artists is lame.
I have no idea who Cojo is

Agreed.
We're going to see that more and more though. Texas country seems to be surging in popularity, which means texas country will become pop country as they get famous. Is Cojo the first one to REALLY "make it" in the modern era?

Eli Young Band turned to dog shite fast.
Josh Abbott band wasn’t ever amazing but after the She’s Like Texas album, they also fell off hard.

Has Cody Johnson had any hits other than Till You Cant? It seems to me like that was bigger than anything Eli Young or Josh Abbot, but I really dont remember.
Regardless, it seems like once you go big radio hit, youre cooked. Been waiting for it to happen to turnpike troubadours but I guess they'll stay badass jam band.
Cojo is great. Thats Texas is a jam. Hes still turning out some good stuff.

Probably so.
Parker McCollum isn't doing too bad for himself as well.

" The Fall" was pretty big for him. I think his newest album is doing pretty well.
I was in Nashville for a couple days last week. There were quite a bit of Cody Johnson posters and billboards on Music Row at publishing houses and the record label.
That usually means that an artist is doing pretty well.

If you don't like his new sound, blame Nashville, not Texas.
