I will start off.

Nevermind: Smells like teen spirit; in bloom; come as you are.

Automatic for the people: Drive; try not to breathe; the sidewinder sleeps tonite.

The Stone Roses: I wanna be adored; she bangs the drums; waterfall.

Give em enough rope: safe European home; English civil war; Tommy gun.

Better yet...

Name the top 4 songs to open, and then also close a funk, double LP by a 6 member British band with a female drummer recorded in 1978...

These threads are silly.

King of the Rotten on Wiseblood by Corrosion of Conformity - as a stand alone song it's pretty solid but I think it perfectly sets the tone for a great album

Blackened on And Justice for All pretty much speaks for itself

Intro/Apocalypse Please, Absolution, Muse - another great tone setter for one of their finest albums

Destroyer: Detroit Rock City, King of the Night Time World (this and Great Expectations tend to be severely under appreciated), God of Thunder.

I'll have to also echo the sentiments of the other poster regarding Appetite for Destruction.

Honorable Mention:
Back in Black: Hells Bells, Shoot to Thrill, What do You do for Money Honey

Metallica black album: Enter Sandman, Sad but True, Holier than Thou.

For these two, the first two songs are good openers, but fall a bit short at the third.

The Van Halen debut kicked off with three strong ones.

Runnin’ With the Devil
Eruption
You Really Got Me

Fourth up is Ain’t Talkin ‘Bout Love, which is pretty good itself.

I always liked "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

1. "Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding"
2. "Candle in the Wind"
3. "Bennie and the Jets"

And if you want to count the first song as two songs, I'm OK with ending with "Candle in the Wind", but I like B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets.
