The female singers that make that a masterpiece got shafted financially. I believe it took PF 30 years to make it somewhat right with them.

I don't think there is much to discuss about this song.

I'll say I was surprised it wasn't sung by a black woman.

One of the three women were black on the Pulse tour in the 90s.

Clare Torry got paid 30 pounds to sing on it. She later sued to be credited as a songwriter since she came up with vocals. They settled with her.

I read several accounts of the recording, it seems like everyone who was there has a different memory of how it happened. Might have been high?

Interesting story behind it. They played the instrumental track for her, gave her very little direction other than hearing the track, and asked her to improvise something.

When she finished the take, she thought she bombed it. She asked to do another take and the band were like, um no no that'll do just fine.

Which is why it's completely ridiculous that PF didnt make it right with her from the beginning. "Yea, we'd love for you to come sing on this track, and oh, by the way, you wont get shite for doing it..."

They paid her, they just didn't give her a song writing credit.

I know that. That's my point. How she was not compensated for her additions to the song, the entire vocal piece, is beyond me. You would think the band members would be gracious to have that contribution that they had nothing to do with.

eh, there's nothing really to "get" I don't think, it just fits in perfectly with the album.

Yeah, the Floyd were so stingy, they had the audacity to make sure that Syd Barret received all his royalties and had a nice Pink Floyd related income until the day he died.

Well it's not like she wrote anything.

I mean actors that improvise something don't get a writing credit.
