Grand Funk Railroad needs a thread

Enough w/the "needs a thread" shtick
Just name the band -- making sure to reach the stupid 3 word limit, of course
Example: "Elvis thread"

It's not GFR without Mark Farner!
One of the greatest guitarists ever and a fantastic songwriter. He was a big influence on a lot of great bands like the Black Crowes.

Met Mark once at the Iowa Governor’s Deer Hunt. Super, super nice man. Very down to earth.

Good dude.
There's a very rough early recording of "We're an American Band" out there that I can't find. It had some banter between Todd Rundgren and the group just before it kicks off. It was really raw and good.

I love GFR, but Some Kind of Wonderful and The Loco-Motion are horrible songs.
Sin's a Good Man's Brother is one of my favorite songs of all time.

Mark Farner and Santana took the same path to the same outcome. Write guitar tracks that transcend time early, try out drugs, hit it big, fall off the face of the earth, re-emerge sober, write biggest hit of respective career, play at a Jazz festival Louisiana, teach the crowd Christ is Lord.

Love their music. I saw them in concert during the Fall of 1979. They opened for the Doobie Brothers.

I have been dragging around a very old, very dusty crate of vinyl from the 70's of which almost all of it is unplayable now. Those Grand Funk Railroad albums are in that box.
