Garth is definitely a weird dude. He’s a lot like Shania Twain. Sometimes the past should stay in the past. You can’t always run it back.

The Garth Brooks hate on this site is unreal. He’s the most prolific and successful country singer from the 80s and 90s, his shows are incredible, it’s pretty clear he legitimately loves his fans. He actually wrote a lot of his hits.
The rehashed idea that Garth ruined country music is laughable. He obviously tapped into something that already existed, much like Nirvana or Rush Limbaugh.

He co-wrote most of them. I think he's only written 2-3 all on his own. He's a good singer and a great performer, I don't think writing is his strong suit

No doubt the tour would be popular, but many other great country acts are touring. Garth is used to sellouts. He might be surprised by the competition in the market.

The number I have seen is $154 ($140 for the ticket, $14 for service fees) plus applicable sales taxes.
Like Saving Country Music said, that's a pretty good price for the front couple of rows, but not for the rafters or even the midrange seats.

I agree. I was just out of college when he got big in the early 90's, I hated country music because that's what my parents listened to. That all changed when I heard Friends in low Places. I've been a country music fan ever since.

So what you're saying is that there was no "pop country" before Garth?
What about Chet Atkins and the Nashville Sound that permeated throughout country music in the late 50s and 60s that helped to introduced Outlaw Country with Waylon and Willie.
Or the disco country that lasted through the mid-70s until the mid to late 80s that caused the neo-traditional sound from Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, and others to populate the charts.
Learn your country music history. "Pop country" has had many sounds in the past 70 years since there was a delineation between country and western.
edit:Not sure if you know this, but Alabama was considered "pop country" when they started in the late 70s to the 80s. Compare what they were putting out compared to the giants at the time(Jones, Merle, Goslin, Conway). The electric guitar with popular musical arrangements at the time was nowhere close to what traditional country was.
