A few of my favorites that immediately come to mind:
Harry Nilsson - jump into the fire is as good as it gets for a 70s rock song
Blood Sweat and Tears - the first album with David Clayton Thomas as lead singer is a great rock and roll horn band album

You can have Blood, Sweat and Tears but Harry Nilsson is the man. Nilsson Schmilsson and A Little Touch of Nilsson In the Night are fantastic albums.

I saw Nazareth live. they opened for the Marshall Tucker Band. It was two different genres of fans. it was pretty weird.
