With the release of
Temple Of The Dog self title debut Album today in 1991.

What are some of your favorite Supergroups?

Never paid much attention to this group. But they had some great songs. That was a stacked group. Wow!
The Traveling Wilburys.
End Of The Line

Mine are
Temple of the Dog
Audioslave
A Perfect Circle
Broken Social Scene
Mad Season

Seems like a lot of these groups only released one album

Yeah, this is my choice. I also really liked Damn Yankees (I was in high school from 1986-90, so my hair-metal bias is strong )

Desert Sessions-Noses in Roses, Forever

quote:

The Desert Sessions began in August 1997 at the Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree when Josh Homme brought together musicians from the bands Monster Magnet, Goatsnake, earthlings?, and Kyuss.[1][4][5] The ranch, located in the Mojave Desert, has an old house filled with rare and unique recording equipment and instruments, and was owned by Dave Catching and the late Fred Drake.[6][7] With the large numbers of musicians arriving to the ranch over time, and with many albums having been produced there, the setting has been described as creating a unique "desert sound" comparable to the grunge rock of Seattle in the early 1990s and the acid rock of San Francisco in the 1960s.[8][9]

Ry Cooder (guitar, vocal)
John Hiatt (guitar, piano, vocal)
Nick Lowe (bass, vocal)
Jim Keltner (drums)

the group recorded together for one john hiatt solo album “bring the family”, and then one self-titled album under the band name.

Here they are on Carson

CARDBOARD VAMPYRES
Never knew this existed

Alice In Chains Jerry Cantrell and The Cult's Billy Duffy formed the Cardboard Vampyres, an all star cover band, in 2004.

Billy Duffy explains the band's origins:
"In 2004 during a break from The Cult I formed the band Cardboard Vampyres with my good friend Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains. Also in the band were vocalist John Corabi (Mötley Crüe), drummer Josh Howser and bassist Chris Wyse who later joined us in The Cult."

"We never released any recorded music but played a number of shows that year and this is a set list from one of those. As you can see there were a few Cult songs in there and the hand written titles at the top was just me looking at possible alternative songs we could play."

Each show the setlist changed radically

There is no peer to the Traveling Wibury's.. Maybe Blind Faith...

Tom Petty is the "Kid" in the band. Jeff Lynne, George Harrison, and Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison? George harrison once joked.. That we "ALL" get Roy Orbisons autograph every day after practice...

Never really thought of them as a supergroup, but You Forgot It In People is an amazing album.

Since I am sensing a lot of progressive jazz/ fusion fans on this board (sarcasm), I nominate Mahavishnu Orchestra. There are arguments that some of their members are the best that have ever lived regarding their respective instruments:
John McGlaughlin - lead guitar
Billy Cobham - drums
Jan Hammer - keyboards
Gerry Goodman / Jean-Luc Ponty - electric violin
