Always loved that song. Heard it on a 45 back when I was a kid. Played it over and over.

Tabitha Tuders’ Mama by Elizabeth Cook. Tabitha was abducted in Nashville 2003 before she was able to catch her school bus. She never was found and this has always haunted me. Just heart breaking.

Young, hungry, and desperate Bruce Springsteen had some good story songs.

Revisited the genre with a great song called “Outlaw Pete” on a post-Rising album.

Atlantic City is my favorite, but yes, there's a bunch.

I like Jason Isbell's "King of Oklahoma" currently.

“Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” - Gordon Lightfoot

Top of my list.

Not sure if all these qualify

Also Cat's in the Cradle - Harry Chapin
Southern Cross - Crosby Still and Nash
Please Come to Boston - Dave Loggins
Nothing Compares 2 U - Sinead O'Connor
The Weight - The Band
Whipping Post - Allman Brothers

I could go on. Didn't read the thread so sorry about any repeats, I'm sure there are some.
