For volume, I'd go Liz Phair. I like all her albums for the most part.

Favorite voice is Karen Carpenter.

Grace Slick is up there.

Interesting Fact: Carole King received a Lifetime Achievement Award Grammy in 2013 (just a few days ago). This was about 25 years too late.

Webought our son a DVD of Where The Wild Things Are. It had several other shorts on it. All songs by Carole. Takes months to get the chicken soup and rice song out of my head.

Ricky Lee Jones, Patty Griffin, and love Carole.. the old Steinway she had recorded on used to be in a studio in Nashville called Woodland... which is now partly owned by Gillian Welch, also mentioned & a fave of mine.
