Kentucky Woman by Deep Purple is much better than Neil Diamond

Blue Bayou by Linda Ronstadt is immeasurably better than the Roy Orbison original. It's hardly recognisable as the same song.
Also a few other Ronstadt covers are notable. I love her version of "Heat Wave", it's actually a little better than the 1963 version by Martha and the Vandellas. Same thing with "You're No Good", not as soulful as Betty Everett, but a smoother production. "Just One Look" is nice, but here I give the edge to both the Doris Troy original and the Hollies vibrant British Invasion rendering.
