With streaming the way it is now, feels like you can't really count the Top 100 the same way as used to

The radio wouldn't be playing every song from a big album so only 2-3 would make the top lists

If they're Taylor Swift songs and/or on the current charts, they're not.

I will never understand why people like this twat.

That is really sad but the billboard top 100 has never really been a place for great music. Here is the list from 1968:

No. Title Artist(s)
1 "Hey Jude" The Beatles
2 "Love is Blue" Paul Mauriat
3 "Honey" Bobby Goldsboro
4 "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" Otis Redding
5 "People Got to Be Free" The Rascals
6 "Sunshine of Your Love" Cream
7 "This Guy's in Love With You" Herb Alpert
8 "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" Hugo Montenegro
9 "Mrs. Robinson" Simon & Garfunkel
10 "Tighten Up" Archie Bell & the Drells
11 "Harper Valley PTA" Jeannie C. Riley
12 "Little Green Apples" O. C. Smith
13 "Mony Mony" Tommy James and the Shondells
14 "Hello, I Love You" The Doors
15 "Young Girl" Gary Puckett & The Union Gap
16 "Cry Like a Baby" The Box Tops
17 "Stoned Soul Picnic" The 5th Dimension
18 "Grazing in the Grass" Hugh Masekela
19 "Midnight Confessions" The Grass Roots
20 "Dance to the Music" Sly & the Family Stone

is this what meant in your thread title ?

Taylor Swift breaks another record by claiming all top 10 spots of the Billboard Hot 100

1. Anti-Hero - Taylor Swift
2. Lavender Haze - Taylor Swift
3. Maroon - Taylor Swift
4. Snow On The Beach - Taylor Swift feat. Lana Del Rey
5. Midnight Rain - Taylor Swift
6. Bejeweled - Taylor Swift
7. Question ? - Taylor Swift
8. You're On Your Own, Kid - Taylor Swift
9. Karma - Taylor Swift
10. Vigilante shite - Taylor Swift

Doesn't surprise me these days. She's followed by gazillions, markets new album with teases and it drops overnight, then every groupie downloads the songs creating historic album/song sales.

She knows how to market her music that's for sure. Didn't release a single before the album dropped either not to give anyone anything to hear before it comes out. And yes counting the top 10 or even 100 now with streaming makes comparing eras weird because older albums wouldn't drop 10 singles at once but this is still impressive. I think Drake had 9 of the top 10 at one point.

This album also became the best selling album released this year after only being out like 4 days and has sold the most albums since Adele's 25 7 years ago. And I read it has the most physical sales since Luminate began tracking in 1991.

And for those wondering it's not my favorite Taylor (I prefer indie/folkie Taylor) but there are some good songs on there. Oh, and the tour is going to be a monster too. From people I talked to yesterday just signing up for the ticketmaster verified thing took hours.

So the Beatles' most extraordinary chart achievement, having the top 5 Billboard singles, has officially been broken (it was actually tied by Drake last year).

I've been expecting this for awhile. The Beatles' achievement was a freak occurrence, happening b/c due to legal wrangling and entanglements they were on several different record labels.

But today's world of streaming actually favors this sort of thing for superstar acts. Not quite as impressive IMHO

Any of the 1985 Top 25 is preferable to even the "best" of Taylor Swift, but admittedly I'm not a fan. I would much rather listen to Mariah Carey, or Whitney Houston, or Janet Jackson. Even Paula Abdul and Madonna are better

It's incredible she's achieved this popularity. I just don't think she's that good (or talented), but she's obviously doing something right.

One of the most overrated, overhyped people in American history regardless of the category.

Especially since I don't find anything about her or from her all that good. 'Popular' music has declined severely.
