I play and have written songs but nothing in at least 3 years. When I was in school I met a few guys at an open mic and we actually ended up doing two albums worth of original songs which was pretty dang cool. They were a lot older than I was so I ended up learning a lot from them. There was one point when I was playing in 3 bands around LSU. When I graduated I moved back home and tried to keep playing but it was 4 hours round trip to make practices and I just couldn't handle it. I stopped gigging about a year and a half ago.
I am an above average rhythm guitar player and an extremely average singer. I would love to start gigging again, but it is such a pain in the arse to coordinate practice space, and deal with booking gigs.

We are playing Riverfete 2018 in Alexandria in a few weeks. Pretty pumped for that.

nice post. That's all really cool. It's just me and one buddy who is much older than me right now. Trying to hammer out enough originals that we can lay down an EP or something. Gonna play some more open mics here and there also.

I don't really play an instrument...maybe the radio.(LOL) but I do write lyrics. Been doing that since I was in middle school many moons ago.
I sing out the song as I'm writing the lyrics and hopefully someone can put music to 'em someday. My most recent songs were titled, My Walmart Queen and The Flood of 2016

Here's a rough demo of one of my songs. I recorded it on my iPad in my kitchen. Hope y'all like it.

how does someone besides Dylan write a song called Forever Young and get away with it?
Many great versions of Forever Young. Including his up tempo country blues version. Irma Thomas. All written by Dylan.
Rod Stewart also covers a Tom Waits song, Downtown Train.

recent show
Ive had some bands going for a few years, mainly for fun. Most often its a blast. This is from our last show. Pretty eclectic, jamband rock.
