Did anyone attend the Pink Floyd concert at the PMAC in 1977?

The concert was held on 4/28/77. I have a good friend from England who is a PF superfan who is actually a personal friend of Roger Waters' agent.

Anyway, this friend of mine recently sent me a couple of CDs containing a recording of the PF concert at LSU's PMAC from 77.

First I didn't know they ever played at LSU. Second, I was shocked that a recording existed. Granted the quality is complete shite. But regardless its cool to have.

Here's the setlist from that show:

Sheep
Pigs on the Wing 1
Dogs
Pigs on the Wing 2
Pigs (Three Different Ones)

Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V)
Welcome to the Machine
Have a Cigar
Wish You Were Here
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX)

This was the In The Flesh tour. I've listened to a couple good recordings from other shows on this tour (Oakland for sure) and they are awesome. Some incidents at the Montreal show on this tour is what inspired Roger Waters to write The Wall.

If you look at the other cities and venues that they played, it is pretty incredible that Baton Rouge was included and the PMAC had to have been one of the smallest venues on the tour. From what I understand, Baton Rouge got a lot of great concerts in the 70s because New Orleans didn't have something with an comparable capacity until the Lakefront Arena was built in the 80s.

I took this picture of Gilmour at that show. This is the famous Black Strat when it still had a rosewood fretboard. I have one of Waters too but it's not online.

I have several bootlegs of shows from 75 and 77 and there are some quality recordings available. I'd say the ones from 75 are better because there are different versions of the animals tunes. Nothing like hearing Dogs, Pigs and Sheep with different arrangements and lyrics ( not to mention the extended jams they did live ). Gilmour's tone never sounded better than 75-77......

Wasn't born then, but saw them at Rice Stadium on the Division Bell tour.

Yeah I have a ton of those recordings as well. And they are surprisingly good. I made an exception to hold on to a crappy recording due to the tie in with Baton Rouge and the rarity of the recording despite the quality.

I can’t help but think of all that PF has in their vault that they still have yet to release. I know Waters has a pro shot multi cam video recording of the wall live from the 80-81 shows. Not sure why they are waiting to release that. They should have packaged it when the cd recording came out a few years back.

I don't think the pig got loose but I seem to recall that it hung up on the track for a little while before they got it unstuck.

I was there, so ahead of their time with music video, years ahead of MTV. The Pig floating across the Assembly Center with laser eyes..........I saw it, I know I did.

BR was a top 5 tour stop in the 70's because of LSU and the college crowd (D.A. Ossie Brown killed that). The booking agent during that period was doing great work (can't remember the name). N.O had the Municipal Auditorium which was sizable venue. Saw Yes play there in 1977 or so.

ETA: I think it was Beaver Productions booking all those shows.

Man, looking back I was so fortunate for the concerts we had back then. Saw so many legends. The very 1st rock show at the new Centroplex was Kiss....1978. Every weekend it was, Led Zep, Who, Yes, Pink Floyd, REO, Ted Nugent, Bob Seger.............on and on.

"Former District Attorney Ossie Brown led a campaign in 1982 against rock concerts in Baton Rouge after the drunken exploits of an overzealous crowd at an AC/DC concert in the River Center was publicized.Brown convinced the Metro Council to pass a prohibitive tax on large music productions, which applied to concerts in the PMAC and the River Center and crippled the ability of local venues to be attractive options for national production companies."

LMAO, no mention of Brown banning Ozzie for being demonic and for biting heads off of bats. BR ended up black balled as a result. Ozzie would eventually book a show at the Fair Grounds in 1980 with Blue Oyster Cult, Leroux & Vandenberg. Damn Ossie cost me my chance at seeing Randy Rhoads.

They got a lot of punk and new wave shows around the same time. The Sex Pistols played here on their only U.S. tour, Elvis Costello, R.E.M., the Police (think the latter two played at the Bayou)
