Featuring never-before-seen concert footage and narration by Jeff Bridges, this documentary explores CCR's humble origins and meteoric rise.
It's a great watch and a great concert. Highly recommend.
Takeaways:
-Fogerty was extremely talented. Even more so than I previously thought. The other cats not so much. But they played their parts well enough and the music was fantastic.
-Fogerty is a natural born a-hole. Which everybody knows. But he's even more of an a-hole than I previously thought. He's got that naturally ingrained assholishness that exudes out his pores.
-In 69-70 CCR was the biggest act on the planet. Selling more records than anybody. The Beatles and Zeppelin be damned. It was CCR's world and they were just living in it.
-CCR's ability to play live music that sounds exactly like their studio music is unreal. I don't think there is another band in history that does it so well.
-CCR, while having an absolute treasure trove of great original tunes, was the best cover band EVAR, imo. Before you Accuse me, Heard it through the Grapevine, Cotton Fields etc., when Fogerty and boys did them, they were better than the originals.
-CCR is one of the Top 5 best Rock bands that ever lived.

Their drummer is great.
this goes for other bands of the era, it blows my mind how much music they put out in a short period. In 2 years, they have 5 albums i love.

Yea the drummer is pretty damn good. But he's a goofy sumbitch.

Fogarty's record company, with the aid of the rest of the band fricked him over for decades. It's been estimated he lost over 100 million dollars.

Watching it now. I saw Fogerty at Jazz Fest 2019 and he still sounds incredible live and is a huge draw.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was right there with them. Love CCR. Saw Fogerty at Jazz Fest about 10 years ago and he was fantastic.

I would put ZZ Top up there.

That 8 or so minutes at the end with "Keep on Chooglin'" was glorious

I've debated whether to see Fogerty in concert, but the clips I've watched of him online make it seem like he's a cartoon character. Seems fun but I want to see CCR Fogerty, not the current shell of what he used to be.
I'm a huge fan of CCR live, but modern Fogerty live- not so much

Easily one of my favorite bands of all time .
Saw John back in 97. Unforgettable show.

Will watch; thanks for the tip.
I'm just an average fan of CCR, but I consider John Fogerty to be one of the biggest musical geniuses of our time. Guy wrote, covered, and performed songs at a high level at a young age and tapped in to making hit records like nobody's business.

It was a decent film/concert.
The only sub par musician in the band was his brother Tom. The other 3 we're really good.
