I don’t understand the hate for Creed... They could bring it and everyone of their songs told a story

Their first album had some good stuff on it. Then they became the poster boys for douche rock through a confluence of factors.

It's one of my darkest, secret music memories....I actually like that first Creed album when it came out.
That said, listening to it these days is painful. Between the awful Ed Vedder copy cat vocals, the incredibly formulaic music, and the whole mainstream Christian-slant (while the lead singer turns out to be a drug addict POS) was just too much to take or appreciate.
These days, they deserve every bit of hate they get.

The hate comes from Scott Stapp coming off as a pretentious douche. I mostly enjoy their music. They were pretty good when I saw them live too.

Cause of Creed we got Nickelback and Maroon 5

The hate is justified

Ill never apologize for my love for Creed. Saw them three times live during their heyday.

And you deserve every downvote you get going forward. Creed rocks.

Same here. Their music is damn good...it's just become "cool" to hate them, apparently.

Stapp was raised a preachers son in Alabama I think. Forced religion on him. He rebelled big time but wrote some deep shite if you read the words. Mark Tremonte was a pretty good guitar player too. Saw em in NOLA, The Woodlands and then again in NOLA when Staind opened for them. Awesome concert.
"Higher" is still one of my favorite songs of all times.

The video for "Higher" was what did it for me. That was douchiness of the 100th power.

My Own Prison is a very good album and holds up
I don’t mind them and think they were good, but they just got caught up in the arena douche rock crowd once they went mainstream
Can we talk about wtf they were thinking for the album cover to “Weathered”?

It’s because of the actions and attitude of their front man off stage. They’re hated for the same reason Oasis is hated, but not for the same reason Nickleback is hated.
I remember “Higher” being used as the theme song for a cool animated movie called “Titan A.E.” when I was a kid.

That's pretty much how I feel. I enjoyed the first album when it came out. I still think it's ok. But their second album was just so lame. Has not aged well.

then you went a little too far
I like Creed in middle school. First concert of my choosing. When the second album came out, it wasn't awful and I still listened because it was one of the first bands that I chose to really like on my own. But as time went on, they really started to show that they were just kind of terrible and spent their wad on that first album. And even that wasn't completely groundbreaking. As I got older, tastes changed significantly and I can't even see how I ever really listened. It does nothing for me now.

Their success was spectacular and amazing. They sold like 30 million records in 3 years before disappearing. Might have been the last really big-selling rock act in that regard.
Don't give even the slightest shite about the singer being a douche or not. Only relevant thing is sound coming out of the speakers. How could anyone listen to Rage if they didn't have the same policy? I can't imagine there are too many commies on the board here!
