Van Hagar made their first appearance in Shreveport.
Saw a ton of better ones, but that one is unique. People will shite on it now, but it was national news at the time.

Prince was LEGENDARY for his live performances, and ALL races and ages showing up.

Queen at the Municipal Auditorium in New Orleans, Halloween night 1978. If there were one concert I could revisit, that’s the one.
Another I’d love to see again was Dio at Tipitina’s - think it was early ‘90s.

I was in the Navy and stationed in San Diego at the time. Two buddies and I drove to L.A. to see The Rolling Stones and GnR at the Coliseum in1989. Axl threatened to end the band during the show.

Prince Controversy Tour, Purple Rain Tour in the dome, LoveSexy in Dallas, and the Musicology Tour in Century Tel in Bossier. All amazing shows.

seeing gnr before their first album was released wasn't that unusual
they were on tour with motley crue
having a friend who had a tape was
their album had been released when they were touring with the crue ... just hadn't become a hit outside of la ... i saw them on that tour in the fall of '87 ... no one knew who they were, but they were flat out awesome ...
saw the who with ringo's son on drums and the other original 3 ... they were great ... floyd on the pulse tour ... seen the stones/springsteen and a host of others, but gnr and the who were very special ...

Chris Stapleton opened for Jason Isbell at the ParkLife 'festival' in Atlanta about 4 months before he won 2 grammys and every person alive found out who he was. People were barely paying attention....
If that show happens again today, totally different story

Elvis at Hirsch Coliseum in ‘75. I was 13 and I’ll never forget the the roar of the crowd and the blinding flashbulbs when he walked onto the stage.

Apparently, according to many accounts, The Time was equally or more LEGENDARY than Prince in their live performances when they opened for him basically to the point Prince kicked them off his 1999 tour and fired a bunch of their members

I love the time as well, but if morris, jesse and the boys were all that, don't you think they would have blown up and been an all time icon like prince? To be fair jimmy jam and terry lewis are ultra successful, but not on a legendary level.

Page and Plant at UNO in 1999 (might've been 1998 I can't recall)

Those are some great tshirts.
Royal Crescent Mob from OH
Bad Mutha Goose from Austin were some of the best shows to see live. The funky energy was infectious. I also like the Killer Bees reggae band from Austin.
