How would you sum up their legacy?
I don’t hear people talk much about them, where did they peak in their career? I wonder what their numbers look like on Spotify. Do people view them today as a top nostalgic band of their era?

Overplayed to the point where it’s hard for younger people to really guess how good they might have been in their time

Commercially peaked over 40 years ago. First five albums are absolute classics. Post 1980 output very inconsistent quality wise.

I saw them at The University Center in Hammond in ‘88?. Great show. Like the other poster said, their pre-1980 output was great, very uneven afterwards.

I saw them at the World’s Fair in New Orleans.
Great show.
As for legacy, they were a solid band that has gotten old. I still wouldn’t mind seeing them again (Beau Rivage?).

Great band and very imaginative. All output from 1970's is classic.

One of my favorite bands. I've seen them 7 or 8 times. I saw them at the State Fair in the early 80's, the show in Hammond at SLU in the mid 80's, and I caught them at the Saenger Theater a couple of years ago. They still put on a great show. Their catalog is so deep. Check out their set with Daryl Hall on his Live at Daryl's House show, magic. One of the greatest things in life is singing Surrender as loud as you can with a couple of thousand other people.

When I saw them up close in the late 70s I think it was, the guitar player smoked non stop. Never took the cig out of his mouth. A roadie had to constantly come and pull it out as he played and stick another lit smoke in his mouth nonstop the entire show! He smoked one after another, as it ashed out to the filter in his mouth, the roadie brought another. I hear that was his thing. Is he still alive? Does he still do that?

Incredible, incredible band. The songwriting and hooks are consistently memorable, even in their lesser known catalog. And Robin Zander is among the most underrated and underappreciated vocalists in the history of popular music. Not only for talent, plus looks and persona ... he's still at it over four decades later and bringing the A game to the shows.

Gotta be Bun. I didn’t remember Nielson ever having a cigarette. I did a Google image search to confirm, and in not one single picture of him does he have a cigarette.
