Toadies is by far my answer. i live in Dallas and those guys are gods up here. always play sold out venues across TX and they kick major arse live. all their songs are catchy as hell and have great guitar riffs.
dont understand why their 2nd and 3rd albums didnt take off, they were both great.
Also a second runner up would be the Nixons. Not sure who has heard of them these days. they were another band popular around N Texas in the 90s, they killed it live. they had a few radio songs like "Sister".

Nice thread... I nominate the Hoodoo Gurus. Late 80's through the 90's. They were money and never even came close to making it "big".

Good call. Don't know how the hell I forgot about them. I wore out their "Kinky" cd my sophomore year of college. "Miss Freelove 69" was one of those stupidly awesome party songs.

Tonic had a string of hits and toadthewetsprocket had a large following until they dismantled the band by choice.

If this in the context of the states, then Pulp should be on this list. Different Class is arguably one of the best albums of the 90s are very few have heard it.

I'd say so. Never saw them until now but they were flawless. They have that "disciplined chaos" feel. Didn't go insane but rocked hard while still playing tight. Kinda like Foo Fighters.
