i second the hoodoo gurus. i suppose they were on the cusp of success, but just couldn't get over the hump....great band, 'tho.
and while i guess i can understand, i'm still surprised juliana hatfield's career didn't take off more....she had a good balance with edge & accessibility IMO.

The Wrens. Guys, if you've never heard this band, remedy that. They're still around. Churning out an album every seven years or so. "Secaucus" is an overlooked classic.

Black Love by the Afghan Whigs is one of my favorite albums. Flying to New York in September to see their show. Still hoping for a NOLA gig as well.

Luscious Jackson, Sneaker Pimps, and Garbage were all bands that I heard of initially on the Box. I always liked the 10 second snippets of their videos, but everyone kept ordering No Limit rap and Marilyn Manson instead

Been touring for about a month now. Mostly Europe so far, Tel Aviv last night. Dulli owns a home and bar in New Orleans. Dave Rosser, who also plays guitar in The Twilight Singers with Dulli is from New Orleans as well. He is playing guitar on the tour with the band. I think it looks promising to get a show.

Matthew Sweet has several quality albums. Girlfriend is still the go-to for me.

All solid choices. I have "City Song", "Six Underground", and "Only Happy When It Rains" on the iPod.
I really only got into the Sneaker Pimps stuff that had Kelli Ali, but "Six Underground" is one of my favorite 90s songs.
