I can't choose one...here are my top picks...I love these songs...so I am probably too close to any of them to be objective:

A Change Gon' Come - Sam Cooke

The Times They Are A Changin' - Bob Dylan

Sunday Morning Coming Down - Kris Kristofferson

All Along the Watchtower - (Hendrix Version)

Dazed and Confused - Zeppelin Version

Strange Fruit - Billie Holiday

Imagine - John Lennon

Johnny B. Goode - Chuck Berry

What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd

Every time I was ready to stop my list, another song would pop into my head.

Stairway to Heaven - it's three songs in one.

My favorite Zeppelin is Hey, Hey, What Can I Do?

My favorite ever is perhaps Perfect Circle by R.E.M.

For me it's a combination of the music and the images and circumstances that I think of when I hear a song.

Oh, and I love Tea For One quite a bit, too. Time changes how you feel about songs.

I would not disagree too much with "The Weight" by the Band. That's certainly an epic song.

It used to be a toss up between...

1. Born on the Bayou--I could listen to that riff literally all day long and not get tired of it.

2. Blue Sky--the very definition of a guitar solo (or two guitar solos if you want to nitpick) you do not want to ever end.

3. Tupelo Honey--however the more Van Morrison I listen to the more I question whether this is even his best song (though I do not question whether it is a damn good one at all), so I've kind of dropped this one lately.
