I knew when I saw the thread title that this thread would turn into another OT shite-thread, but I actually took it seriously and thought about it. It was tough. Its like asking "what was your favorite piece of arse." They are all different, but great at the same time.

So I went to my media player an sorted it by frequency of played. Surprised me. Now quantity does not beat quality, just like poon, but it surprised me.

Ramble On was #1, which didn't surprise me. Fearless was #2, again, not a surprise. But Blood Sugar Sex Magic was #3, and damn if I didn't jam that song back to back to back. I think that's now officially my jam.

TL,DR: Zepp and Floyd, then some Cali funk, now pop, band. Poon.

Not even FM's best song. Still a great song though.

Reading this thread mad me go back and look at the track list. I forget about this album in the "album you can listen to without skipping a song" threads.

The Classic Albums episode playing on AXS TV is fantastic. I own the DVD too. Fleetwood Mac is not even close to being my favorite band, but that show is the best thing about music I've ever watched.

Track-for-track it consistently ranks very highly. While I like the whole James Taylor/Jackson Browne/Linda Rondstadt/Fleetwood Mac genre of music, there are few albums in that body of work that leap out as particularly outstanding. Rumours and, maybe, Running on Empty. Lot of talent in there, but it seems concentrated in that one album.

The "classic" era of Fleetwood Mac is dismissed by some as lame or weak, when one considers the harder rocking AOR bands they competed with and NWOBHM and Hair Metal to follow, that was certainly arguable.

But you can't argue talent - Fleetwood Mac, member-for-member, is one of the most musically talented and diverse bands in rock history. Mick could have played drums for anybody - The Who, Zeppelin, whomever. Lindsay could have added his unique sound to almost any rock band with an open lead or rhythm guitar slot. Mcvie is really underrated as a bassist. Christine is an excellent keyboardist, songwriter, lead and harmony vocalist. Stevie is a once in a generation talent.

Their masterpiece was Rumours.

It's nearly impossible to pick only one but will say that I've always loved Blue Sky, Rhapsody in Blue, and a few of the others mentioned.

I guess just to participate, I'll go with While My Guitar Gently Weeps. I've always loved the most well known version and have also heard an early Beatles acoustic version recently, along with that live version with Tom Petty, George Harrison's son, and then Prince stealing the solo at the end (which surprised everyone as they hadn't rehearsed that way).

Hypnotized is their best song. Incredible. Sure, it isn't the "classic" FM lineup that most associate the band with, but Welch killed it in that song.

Also, I'd put Gypsy > Rhiannon, Dreams, and Go Your own way
