Tank and the Bangas have the GOAT tiny desk episode. Their recorded stuff just doesn’t work as well. They are ridiculous live

Bumping an old thread—just announced that T&tB are coming to Ridgeland for an outdoor concert in November—looking forward to seeing them. St Paul and SG Goodman coming too. Excited for some live music!!

Anders and Shorty are my favorite active ones right now.

Kuwaisiana is pretty cool as is Motel Radio. I liked the Breton Sound, but they’re basically done performing.

One of my favorites is Terra Terra.

Raise the Death Toll and Forming the Void are solid metal bands.

Revivalists and Sweet Crude are lame.

New Orleans is elite for jazz and funk inspired jam bands but is severely lacking in traditional rock n roll.

Subdudes are criminally underrated.

Concur.

I'd put money on Iceman being the next one to break out big once live shows can start kicking again.

They're playing a free outdoor set on Friday at the Dixie Brewery if anyone is interested. 5-6:30 PM.

Im not sure Mutemath is even together anymore

They really aren't, but Paul Meany is keeping the name alive. Everyone else left the band, though. I have a hard time thinking about Mutemath without Darren King.

Carl isn't playing with anyone anymore because Carl is dead.

He died like 2 months ago.

I haven't even heard of most of these bands.

The one Galactic album I bought was the one with this song.

Motel Radio for the win

I was about to say Motel Radio, I was friends with Ian and acquaintances with one or two of the other guys in it in college. Great guys. The sound is not my favorite, but I definitely get down with a good many of their songs. Great to see younger guys making music with actual instruments in this day and age.
