The answer is Thriller, its a fricking masterpiece. There is no close 2nd.

I agree that its a great album, but there are plenty close to it. We are talking preference, not sales.

London Calling was released in January 1980 so it would also be an 80s album. You could argue that the discussion was over after the first month of the decade.
I just don't consider it an 80s album, though. It doesn't have any kind of 80s feel.

That's another reason I don't really consider it 80s. I was looking at the US release, but I guess the earliest release would be the most appropriate.
