BUT. Best 3 album stretch since 1990? I don't know how you could consider that whatsoever.

No denying the greatness of the Black Album even if you are more of an older style Metallica fan.

No, wasn't claiming it to be in the top. More defending the guy who posted it since he got a WTF reaction and nothing but downvotes. If that's his style, it's defensible.

Metallica happens to be one of my favorite bands. I'm more old school where I can listen to Ride the Lightning, Puppets, and Justice for All on loop for days. I hated St Anger. Liked Death Magnetic. Hardwired to Self Destruct...meh. All the songs sound the same.

Previously offered Norah Jones' first three albums so that's my official.

But what about:

The Presidents of the United States of America
II
Freaked out and Small

Last album might be quite a bit weaker than the first two, but the first two are pretty epic IMO.

Metallica fans were not very receptive to Load and Reload upon release (no pun intended). However, over time they have aged well. Maybe because St Anger sucked so bad.

Garage Inc and S&M were also very good
yeah, i don't get the hate for the black album & load, reload

I don't the know of anyone who hates the black album. Load and Reload got dumped on by old school fans, though. It was very different in production. James and Lars let the other guys write more of the songs and it was very different. But like I said, over time, I think the old school fans have softened up on those.

Either U2 with Achtung Baby, Zooropa, and Pop or Oasis with Def Maybe, What's the story and Be here now or Arcade fire with Funeral being centerpiece

These 311 fans who start with the 1995 album...SERIOUSLY? Transistor???? Their rmake of a perfectly good song by The Cure???

If you are going to play the 311 card, start with the best album -- that being their first.

Grassroots and music is good too. Post it homie.

But those albums after the Blue album that I listed were still fantastic to me. Transistor was great.

If you're talking consistent solid music with no filler, it'd have to be Chevelle

Transistor is the best 311 album, but then it goes downhill.

Music
Grassroots
311
Transistor

Anything after, as said, is somewhat lacking.
