Whole Lotta Love vs Heartbreaker, what's your pleasure?

It's very close but I lean towards Heartbreaker.

But if you want my all-time favorites:
When the Levee Breaks - aside from just being a great song it has a lot of personal significance for me from when I was in high school.
Tea for One - Since I've Been Loving You is usually the bluesy Zeppelin song everybody picks - and I love it - but this one is often overlooked - and I like it better.
Kashmir - Powerful, driving beat and exotic sound. This is an example of LZ pushing out of the blues-rock box that they put themselves in in earlier albums.
Ten Years Gone - The multi-layered guitar parts give the song so much depth. You can listen to it a hundred times and still pick out something new.
Bron-yr-Aur - Cool little Jimmy Page number that isn't that hard to play but sounds really impressive.

Side note for guitar players. I think all of those songs are in different tunings.
WTLB - xxCFAC
Tea for One - Standard
Kashmir - DADGAD
Ten Years Gone - Drop D
Bron-yr-Aur - CACGCE

Of those two, I'll take Whole Lotta Love.

My Favorites are (in no particular order):

When the Levee Breaks

In the Light

Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You

How Many More Times

Nobody's Fault but Mine

just to name a few standouts.

I also was grabbed by the ebb and flow of "What is and what should never be". Cool tune. Still one of my faves. LINK

Whole Lotta Love

Never been one of my favorites. Although I like it much more than Immigrant Song.

Been on a Going To California or Rain Song kick lately.

Between these two Whole Lotta Love

Back when there were recreational halls with foosball and pool tables, I heard my first Led Zeppelin song "Good Times, Bad Times". I had to have this album and hear more from this band Led Zeppelin. So, I asked my mother to drive me (13 years old at the time) to Walmart to purchase said album. Unfortunately, no Led Zep I was in stock. So, I purchased Led Zep II and as soon as I was in the car side one of LZ II was played. Never hearing Whole Lotta Love before, I was not expecting the theremin / orgasm part and neither was my mother. I can still hear her yelling "What are you listening to"?

There ya go...fixed it for you.

That should be Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid. I don't accept one without the other.

I know what you're saying, but when listening to classic rock radio it kind of irks me that they always play them back to back. Kind of like Journey with "Lovin, Touchin,Squeezin"--I always hit the button before hearing the inevitable opening to "City of the Angels".

P.S. I am ABSOLUTELY NOT comparing Journey to Zeppelin--may the Hammer of the Gods strike me down if I ever do.

Yep. These and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" make up my mellow Zeppelin set.

It surprised me. I thought it would be a bitch but I got the basics in a couple of weeks practicing an hour a night. Most songs take me months.

This sums up Zepplin for me. There is just too much. Songs come and go and then return. Right now it’s Thank You and Rain Song.

An easier thread (and it’s been done) is “which Zepplin songs suck?” This thread is impossible. Lol

Also Tangerine NEVER gets fast forwarded or the “shuffle” button. I always stop and listen to that one.

Nobody’s Fault but mine if I’m in one mood and Rain Song If I’m in another . Zeppelin ll was the album I obsessed on the longest. I always honestly struggled a little with Plant - hit or miss from me . I put my albums away for 25 years and then pulled them out anew after Pimp Jr ( guitarist ) became obsessed with Zep and started writing about the albums on his social media.

Honestly- I was never a big fan of Whole lot of love until years later . For guys my age it was a constant song floating in the air and a bit of a cliche. I like it a lot more 35 years later. Weird, huh? I’d give it the nod over Heartbreaker.

Led Zeppelin ll was always about “ what is and what shall never be” and “ Thank you” for me. I never burned out on either. That’s the essence of Zep to me.
