Not sure about best, but these are at least near the top:
The Cars - Good Times Roll
Steely Dan - Do It Again

Turning Japanese - The Vapors
I submit this with a caveat that this is easily the song everyone in the US knows them from, and it was indeed the first track off the US release of their debut LP New Clear Days - however it should be noted that it was the 2nd track on the UK version.
It’s also not the best song on the album, which is an absolutely brilliantly crafted piece of early 80s power pop with punk sensibilities. But its incredibly catchy.

Feels like the first time is a great opener.
But not as good “More Than A Feeling”.
But More Than a Feeling is not as good as Hitch a Ride.

Agreed. Tear Stained Eye is very close and is two songs later. They opened strong.

Running with the devil from Van Halen was good. Unsure if best.

It’s all debatable. Stones Roses S/T is full of nothing but gems (well maybe not Don’t Stop). I like I Wanna Be Adored slightly above the field, but I understand it someone else has a different take.

Jimi Hendrix. Are You Experienced
UK: Foxy Lady
US: Purple Haze
Maybe not the best songs (but damned good) but he set the stage with those two songs..
Foxy Lady live 1968
