Anyone went to see Alan Jackson in NO?
Posted by GoAwayImBaitn on 2/16/20 at 1:02 am91
Was a little disappointed. He cut a few songs down to literally 45 seconds. Had his band members do 3 solo routines while he took a break. Came back and done Mercury Blues for an encore, which I thought was a bad choice. Anyway, he played for about an hour and the family and I thought it could have been better. Oh, and no Midnight in Montgomery either
George Strait on the other hand played 3.5 hours straight damn near and didn't stop or cut anything short for Bayou Country Fest a couple years ago...shared the stage since he wasn't the only act and he's 6 years older than Alan

Strait is the goat country artist. Jackson is like Tier 2 at best. They aren’t comparable

I don't know Allen Jackson, but from what I have heard, he's always been kind of lucky. I like a lot of his music, but I don't think he ever needed a hard work ethic like some other people have. He can talk about hard work, because he's heard a lot about it.
Way Down Yonder On The Chattahoochee, the guy that really wrote it, use to be my Mail Man, then Brent Mason added some good guitar licks.. boom..hit song.
I remember hearing about how he had to sell his 57 T-bird, that he had in High school, so that him and his wife could get married. Later on, his wife tracked it down and bought it back for him.
Had a 57 T-bird in High School?
I thought I was a lucky kid. I had a 5 year old Caddy Eldorado that was army green. No hub caps.

I agree completely. Not to mention he forgot lyrics and skipped entire verses. Tossing t-shirts was cheesy and distracted him from performing.
He started “Blues Man” and then just disappeared for the remainder of the song.
Some people on the social media board said they had come from Atlanta the night before. I could not imagine witnessing that two nights in a row.

I love his music but he's not really a concert guy. Doesn't really put on a great show.

I completely forgot about the cheesy t-shirt stuff that went on throughout the show!
That was awful. I didn't come to see him underhand throw T shirts 5 feet off the stage! That was lame as hell
He had me wondering the entire time if he has a coordinator for his shows or not. The show just could have been better put together to make it more entertaining...oh well

I saw him in Nashville at the NRA Convention in 2015. It was his 20 year anniversary tour and he played all his hits. It was a really good show. Sorry yours wasn’t a pleasant one

I saw Alan last year in Winston-Salem. I agree. At the concert I went to he had a video board behind him playing his old music videos synced up with the songs he was singing. You couldn’t help but watch the video vs. the actual performance. I like his music but it was a weird concert.

Was it at a casino? He played by Dallas at a casino last year and it was an hour. They all are around an hour because the casino wants them to get the guests out early to get back to the casino

Smoothie King Center baw. They had a third of the upper deck closed off with curtains. Sad!

Damn. I’ll just keep enjoying him on Prime Country then

I enjoyed it. The people watching was worth the price of admission. Though I agree the T-shirts were odd and the encore choice was sub par. I had not seen him before and looked at it as watching a living legend in his 60s.

Did the Steel Blossoms open for him? Those two ladies are awesome.

I really like Alan Jackson but yeah I always kinda thought seeing him live would be a snoozer
Also the Smoothie King center probably wouldn't help. Seems like a smaller venue would have been better

I was very surprised when I heard that he was playing at Smoothie King. I saw him a few years ago at the Centroplex and it was a good show. I don't know why he would try to play a big venue anymore. I thought about going, but after reading these reviews I'm glad I passed.

I like Alan; traditionalist in every sense but his concerts felt cheap and definitely boring. He plays too much of his radio hits that we’ve heard a million times and not much else. He needs to dig deeper in his albums. The video screen with music videos is sillly.
