i remember hearing that dexter was told that he needed vocal lessons the first time they auditioned for a label 
i'm not a huge fan, but i like them.

This guy....
Has a Master's in Molecular Biology, and was working on his PhD at USC when he gave it up for the Offspring
His wiki is strange. His schooling at USC AND he made a solo flight around the world in 10 days. Cool dude.

Anyway, I like the band. Gone Away is one of my favorites.

They were the shite up through Ixnay on the Hombre. They went a little too Smashmouth after that, but still made some really good songs like Defy You. Noodles is a crafty guitarist. They are the best that punk had to offer for my tastes (no, I'm generally not a punk fan)

Used to really like them in my early teens. I do remember my younger brother getting the cassette for Ignition and jamming all the time. Kick Him When He's Down was a favorite.

I had Americana on a tape and used to listen to it on my portable tape player when i had to run errands with my mom. Awesome band. Still listen to them.

Their early stuff was really good. Smash is one of my favorite punk albums.

Like many I prefer their early stuff but I really enjoy them. Crazy that come out and play came out the summer before my 8th grade year and I'm 31 now
