Hims is good.

Walk Between the Raindrops

On my honeymoon I met a guy from Australia and the man absolutely loved James McMurtry. Said he was his favorite songwriter.

Yep. Have seen him live a few times. Last time was an all acoustic show at the little upstairs listening room above the continental club. He played all the great old stuff and then I sat next to him at the bar afterwords and talked to him for a bit.....I talked and he just grunted and shook his head every now and then.

Pic from that show

He does seem like he’d be a sullen, hapless soul.

Same. It's insane how many people I've turned on to that song.

For me at least, the early stuff was the best. However his latest album was pretty good.

Cheney’s Toy

I do not like the politics attached to this one but it is an awesome song.

Where's Johnny off Candyland lp. This is when I started listening. I think Where'd You Hide The Body lp that came next was/is his best album.

Ionlanthe off Where's You Hide the Body.

Good stuff!

Played ball in OK back in the day.... choctaw bingo takes me back every time. I’ve pretty much been to or drove through every place he talks about on that song.
It comes up on my mixes probably way too much.

His other stuff is good as well. I’ve seen him a couple of times

Well, now I have to check him out. His Dad is one of my very favorite writers. If you never read it, Check out: All My Friends Are Going To Be Strangers. It's hilarious.
Choctaw Bingo is killer, he's got a new fan.

I love his stuff, but he is as left leaning as you can get.
