There is Chuck Berry, who created rock and roll and there is Great Britain.

Steve Miller Band
Metallica
Bad Company
Foghat
Motley Crue
Kiss
Ratt
Twisted Sister
Tesla
Warrant
Slayer
Megadeth
Credence Clearwater Revival
Etc.
And it’s Lynyrd, not Lynard, you scum.
But I will concede the stones, Pink Floyd, deep purple, the Beatles, The Who, and Black Sabbath. And ac/dc is Australian. It just says there’s great music everywhere.

Is it the climate? Is it the fact that they don't have hunting and fishing and girls in bikinis on beaches and pizza buffets, so there is nothing else to do except sit inside and write music?
I mean seriously, if you are listing the "greatest bands of all time," aren't the overwhelming majority British? I'm talking about bands with staying power and a really big catalogue.
The Beatles
Rolling Stones
Led Zeppelin
The Who
Pink Floyd
Queen
Moody Blues (not being in the R&RHOF is an abortion)
and virtually all of the great New Wave bands were British
Who has America given us? Who are the "eternal" American bands? Are there any?
REM?
Lynard Skynyrd?
Aerosmith?
Red Hot Chii Peppers?
Foo Fighters?
Bon Jovi? Are they really a Mount Rushmore band?
Fleetwood Mac was a hybrid. So was Foreigner.
Go back to hating your job.

Put this shite on the music board. I don't give a crap about bands much less rock bands.

Britain had a great run from 1960-1980 but the well has mostly run dry
Someone said once that to be British is to know two things:
1- You used to rule the world.
2- All your current rock bands suck.
