out of all the great country in the 90's, this was the best list you could think of off the top of your head?

Let's revive this thread...

In response to those who try to refute the FACT that late 80's/early 90's country music was the best EVER...

Yeah, uh NO. Country music in the 90's was the best. And I was already well into adulthood in the 90's. Also, I'm one of those weird people who like fun/good music, regardless of the genre--well, except hip-hop/rap. I HATE that genre.

I'm a big fan of artists in the blues, blues-rock, pop, alternative, acoustic guitar and of course country genres. There was a great mix of honky tonk, love songs, ballads, and "feel good" songs from the artists in country music of the 90's. Acts from the late 80's and early 90's that rocked it included Alabama, Sawyer Brown, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, George Strait, John Anderson, Garth Brooks, Sammy Kershaw, Diamond Rio, Shenandoah, LeRoy Parnell, and others.

One of my favorite Pandora stations is "90's Country". It should be yours, too.

Keith Whitley - A Hard Act To Follow
This wasn't 90s, but it was pretty close.

The 90s is when country basically turned into rock with an accent and a steel guitar. Agree to disagree on that one.

Yes, I totally agree, wonderful songs and artists.

the artists who made their mark in the 1990's, including Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black, Travis Tritt, Mark Chesnutt, Confederate Railroad, Brooks & Dunn, Terri Clark, Sammy Kershaw, Jo Dee Messina, etc., the list goes on and on, their collective bodies of work were incredible and true country

I think this group is nothing but popstar wanna-bees. I hate all of them. IMHO 90's ruined country.

feel the best era was between 1975-1985

If you're going to pick 10 years, this is the best answer. And that likely goes for rock, top 40, and alternative too. That era gave us everything in spades. There was just an unbelievable amount of talent and innovation across genres.

The 90's were a little better than the 75_85 period. However the 90's would not have happens if it weren't for 75_85.

Country women had it going on too. Suzy Bogguss, Shania Twain, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina, Trisha Yearwood, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, Deanna Carter, Allison Krauss....strong women, strong songs.

I think the women in country now are the best there has been.
Please tell me this is a joke/troll.

90s country had Trisha Yearwood, Pam Tillis, Patty Loveless, Lorrie Morgan, Reba, Martina McBride, Suzy Boggus, Kathy Mattea.

Even if you can make an argument for today's country females over that group, there is no way that this current group outweighs the Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Tammy Wynette grouping of the 60s/70s/early 80s.

90’s country is cheesy, formulaic and had very little substance to it.
